FOR THE GOOD TIMES brings together recent work by Ridley Howard, Matthew Kirk, Janine Polak, Conie Vallese, J.D. Walsh, and Letha Wilson.

For this exhibition value is placed in making no distinction between the factual and fictional aspects of memory. These mythical marks, love scenes, fantastical icons, delicate remnants, scattered tones, and natural wonders are nods to hazy remembrance, visionary creation, and the freedom that comes in moving along.

Ridley Howard has a M.F.A. at Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. His has exhibited at numerous institutions including: the Museum of Fine Arts Boston; the Savannah College of Art and Design; the National Academy Museum; the High Museum of Art; and the Knoxville Museum of Art. Recent gallery shows include Fredric Snitzer; Koenig and Clinton; and Andrehn-Schiptjenko, Stockholm.

Matthew Kirk lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. His work has been shown at Louis B. James, Exit Art, and Sardine and Pr1mary Space Gallery; and others. In 2010 he was nominated for the Rema Hort Mann Foundation grant.

Janine Polak lives and works in Queens, New York. In 2008, she earned an MFA from the Yale University School of Art, Department of Sculpture. She has exhibited throughout the US including at Sardine; Daily Operation; Essex Flowers; and Scott Charmin. She has also exhibited internationally in Beijing, China, and Australia.

Conie Vallese was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina and lives in New York. She studied visual arts at the University of Buenos Aires and attended drawing workshops with Martin Kovensky and sculpture with Lee Tribe at NYSS. She has designed patterns for ONA SAEZ (Argentina) and collaborated with alldayeveryday and Red Bull Studios. Previous exhibitions include REA One Day Gallery, Buenos Aires; Schema Projects, and Con Artist Collective.

J.D. Walsh lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He is a graduate of the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, Bard College. He has exhibited nationally and abroad including; Sardine, Daily Operation, Halsey McKay, Nicole Klagsbrun, Cleopatra’s, and Galerie Steinek. In 2012, his public art installation “Ensemble for Mixed Use” was commissioned by the City of Toronto for the 2012 Nuit Blanche festival.

Letha Wilson was born in Honolulu, raised in Colorado and lives and works in Brooklyn. She earned an MFA from Hunter College. Wilson has exhibited at the Essl Museum, Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, Bronx Museum of the Arts, Socrates Sculpture Park, Exit Art, Daily Operation, ARKO Art Center and the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art. Recent solo exhibitions include: Grimm Gallery, Higher Pictures; Light Work; Brand New Gallery; Christophe Gaillard.
